MACUNGIE, Pa. (AP) — A dozen people were taken to a hospital after suspected carbon monoxide exposure at an eastern Pennsylvania home over the weekend, authorities said.

State police in Fogelsville responded to the Lower Macungie Township residence at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday and reported people complaining of dizziness and feeling sick. Trooper Nathan Branosky said they showed symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest said all 12 people were evaluated and one was admitted in stable condition. The Macungie fire department and UGI responded and turned off the gas valve to the home. Firefighters also ventilated an attached home that had minor carbon monoxide readings.

Branosky said authorities suspect that the furnace was the culprit.
