3 finalists in running to lead SW Louisiana school district

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — The finalists to lead a southwest Louisiana school district have been named.

In the running for the Calcasieu Parish superintendent’s position are Stanton Lawrence, assistant superintendent of administration for the Victoria Independent School District in Texas since 2020; Shannon LaFargue, who has been chief academic officer for the Calcasieu Parish School Board since 2019; and Robert Barrentine, the chief operating officer for the Calcasieu Parish School Board since 2019, The American Press reported.

Interviews and a final selection is set for May 26.

Seven candidates were initially considered for the job currently held by Karl Bruchhaus, who announced his retirement in February. Bruchhaus’ retirement will take effect June 30.
